Overview

AI Auto-Responder is a full-stack SaaS application that lets creators and businesses automate their Instagram engagement. Users connect an Instagram account, build automations, and let the app respond to direct messages and post comments on their behalf.

How it works

Each automation is composed visually from a trigger, keywords and an action. A trigger fires on an incoming DM or a comment on selected posts (images, videos or carousel albums); when the message matches a configured keyword, the automation either sends a fixed reply or hands the conversation to a "Smart AI" listener that generates a contextual response with the OpenAI API. Instagram events arrive through a dedicated webhook route, and the Instagram OAuth callback stores the integration token for the user.

The app is built on Next.js (App Router) with TypeScript. Data is modelled in Prisma on PostgreSQL — users, subscriptions, integrations, automations, triggers, keywords, listeners, posts and DMs. Authentication is handled by Clerk, while Stripe powers the Free/Pro subscription plans, with Smart AI gated behind the Pro tier through feature flags.

On the frontend, server actions and TanStack Query handle data fetching and optimistic mutations, Redux Toolkit manages automation-builder state, and the UI is built with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui (Radix) components, including a metrics dashboard with Recharts. Zod and React Hook Form validate forms, and Husky plus commitlint enforce commit conventions.
